Harendra Gupta will lead Chandigarh’s challenge in the DDA Open to be played at the Qutab Golf Course here from May 13 to May 16 being organised by Delhi Development Authority (DDA) and Aircel Professional Golf Tour of India. This event boasts prize money of Rs. 20 lakh. The Pro-Am was played today with top bureaucrats and corporate executives competing alongside the best professionals of the country. A number of leading Indian professionals will battle for top honours at the DDA Open. The stellar field will include Mukesh Kumar,Digivijay Singh,Ashok Kumar,Shamim Khan,Rahul Ganapathy,Himmat Singh Rai,C Muniyappa,Arjun Singh,Vijay Kumar and Harmeet Kahlon,to name a few.
Nandlal,Finance Member,DDA & Captain,Qutab Golf Course,said,”We are delighted to host the DDA Open. The Qutab Golf Course is in great condition and with top Indian professionals competing this week,we are certain to witness exciting golf. We are very keen to develop this tournament into a premium tournament of this region and make it a regular feature on the Indian golf calendar.” The Qutab Golf Course,the brainchild of the DDA,has been named after the historic Qutub Minar,which forms a lovely backdrop to the course. It is today one of the most popular golf courses in the National Capital Region and also has the distinction of being the first and only public course in the country. A major tree-planting exercise has helped the course become tougher over the years,with some fairways now tree-lined. The layout is a par-70 and the course has gradually been increased in length to about 5,900 yards.
