Harsimrat Badal, SAD candidate from Bathinda parliamentary constituency and wife of Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal, does not own any vehicle, agricultural or non-agricultural land nor does she own a house.

Harsimrat declared this in an affidavit that she filed along with her nomination papers today. Interestingly, her jewellery accounts for more than 64 per cent of her more than Rs 3-crore assets. Till December 12, 2008, Harsimrat had jewellery worth more than Rs 1.94 crore.

She was accompanied by a sea of supporters, her daughters Harkirat and Gurleen, son Anantveer, parents-in-law Parkash Singh Badal and Surinder Kaur Badal and husband Sukhbir Badal.

While Harsimrat and Parkash Singh Badal reached earlier at the venue, Sukhbir arrived with a cavalcade of SAD supporters. Surinder Kaur Badal filed papers as the covering candidate.

Later, while addressing a press conference, the CM said they would win all the 13 seats in Punjab and improve the tally from last time, when SAD-BJP combine had won 11 seats.

Responding to a query on turncoats, the CM said people vote for parties and not for individuals. "Even if I leave the party, no one will care for me," Badal said. Answering to another query, Badal said throughout his political career his fight had been a political one. "Amarinder made it a personal one, but his party is not vindictive to anyone," he said.

Harsimrat, while reacting to the statement of Raninder calling her as his sister, said, "Had Raninder really considered me as his sister he would have not contested against me. Brothers protect sisters. But I never considered him as my brother," Harsimrat added.
