Senior BJP leader Ram Bilas Sharma today defended Varun Gandhi’s controversial remarks. Addressing a press conference here today, Sharma said Varun Gandhi’s remarks made in a public rally had been twisted and wrongly presented to the people. The recording of the speech had been tampered with to present him in a poor light, he said.

He said any elected leader has the right to defend his people. “So what wrong did Varun did if he said he would protect his constituency people from any attack,” he demanded.

Attacking the Bhupinder Singh Hooda government, Sharma said it is violating the model code of conduct and the BJP will complain to the Election Commission.

With regard to the forthcoming Lok Sabha poll, Sharma said he has been made the chairman of the BJP state election campaign committee. He claimed the BJP-INLD alliance would win all the 10 seats in Haryana. Senior BJP leader Gyan Chand Gupta was also present on the occasion.
