The Haryana government has written to Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) asking that UP and Delhi be asked to ensure that industrial waste is not discharged in water flowing into Gurgaon and neighbouring areas. Replying to a query raised during the ongoing budget session of Haryana Vidhan Sabha, Haryana's Environment Minister Capt. Ajay Singh Yadav said: "Pollution of Gurgaon canal water is mainly due to discharge of untreated or partially treated effluent from 26 drains in Delhi and UP into Yamuna. The matter has been taken up with Ministry of Environment and Forests, CPCB, and UP and Delhi governments." Congress MLA Aftab Ahmed also asked if Haryana Pollution Control Board has conducted any study to gauge the ill-effects to farming in Haryana, to which Capt. Yadav replied in the negative. "
