The Haryana Governor, Jagannath Pahadia will confer 'Bhim Award', the highest sports award to six outstanding players and also honour 21 other sportspersons of Haryana with cash awards at a function to be organised at Haryana Raj Bhawan, Chandigarh, on August 21.
While stating this here today, the Minister of State for Sports, Kiran Chaudhry said that the Haryana Chief Minister, Bhupinder Singh Hooda would grace the occasion. Cash prizes worth Rs 13 lakh would be dispersed to the outstanding players for excelling at various international events and for bringing laurels to the country.
She said that those who would be conferred with 'Bhim Award' include Vivek Singh of Gurgaon for his outstanding performance in shooting, Saroj Sihag of Hisar for athletics, Amit Kumar of Rohtak for wrestling, Sunil Kumar of Bhiwani for boxing, Virender Kumar of Rohtak for judo and Sukhbir Singh Tokas of Bhiwani for para-athletic. The players would be given a cash award of Rs one lakh each, apart from Bhim idol and a scroll.
Choudhry informed that the other 21 players who would also be awarded are: Sukhbir Singh, Vikas Kumar, Suresh Kumar, Navin Kumar, Kumari Sunita, Kumari Pramila (Kabaddi), Vijender Singh, Manjit Singh, Jitender Kumar, Dilbagh Singh, Manoj Kumar, Sunil (Boxing), Kumari Babita, Suresh Kumar, Sudesh Kuamri, Sandeep, Paramjeet, Neha Rathi (Wrestling), Hardeep Singh, Puja Dhanda (Judo), Krishna Punia (Athletics).
