To deal with cases pertaining crimes against children and abduction,the Haryana Police has decided to set up a special task force and train police personnel to deal with such cases effectively. An affidavit to this effect was filed by Haryana Additional Director General of Police B S Sandhu in the Punjab and Haryana High Court. The affidavit was filed during the resumed hearing of a PIL filed by World Human Rights Council,through its Chairman Advocate Ranjan Lakhanpal. The petitioner had sought strict possible action against the errant Chandigarh Police officers responsible for the murder of five-year-old Khushpreet. The petitioner had also demanded that a unified police command be constituted for the Tricity,wherein,only one authority will look into crimes taking place in the region. The Haryana Police apprised the court that a special cell will be set up in Panchkula to deal with such cases. It also submitted that it has extended full cooperation to the Mohali and Chandigarh Police for constituting a unified police command. The Chandigarh Administration apprised the court that action has been taken against police officers who were lackadaisical while dealing with the Khushpreet case. Refusing to accept the compensation offered by the UT Administration,his father Lakhbir had expressed dissatisfaction with the magisterial report which had indicted four UT Police officers.
