The Haryana Police are trying to locate the place where the two suspects, believed to have have planted bombs on the Samjhauta Express, got down minutes before the blasts. Portraits of the duo have been circulated widely and a cash reward of Rs 1 lakh has been announced.
“We have not yet been able to identify the exact location where the two suspects got down from the train which can help us track vital details about their escape. However, the portraits have been circulated in the area and a reward of Rs 1 lakh has already been announced on any information,” said Railway protection Force SP Bharti Arora.
Rana Shaukat Ali, an important witness and survivor of the blasts, provided details about the appearance of the two suspects and helped police in preparing the portraits. He had reportedly told investigators that they argued with RPF constable Kashmir Singh when he asked them for their travel documents. The suspects had claimed that they wanted to go to Ahmedabad. The RPF constable then told them that they had boarded the wrong train. The suspects then got down at a place about 15-20 minutes before the Diwana railway station where the blasts took place.
Haryana Police, which is investigating the case, is reported to have received a number of calls from people. A senior Haryana police, who is part of the investigating team, said: “Based on the response we have received from people on the identity of the suspects, we have dispatched teams to Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan and Delhi.”
