With special district-specific links introduced in the Haryana Police website,Haryanapolice.com,residents of the state would now be able to check the status of their cases online.
The objective behind the project is to increase transparency in the police department. Also, while the site presently has only general and basic information, the links have been made available. Soon,district-specific information and data would be available on the website, said a senior officer of the police department.
Besides general information, various kinds of new services that the police department would be starting from time to time, registration of FIR online, tenant and servant verification forms would also be made available online.
Amitabh Dhillon,SP,Panchkula, said,We are at work and the district-specific data for various categories is being collected, which would then be put online for the general public. Also, with the launch of these new links, residents of the districts would be able to know the exact status of their cases by simply typing in the police station in which the case has been registered and the FIR number.
He added that the system would help in decentralising the work process and would put an end to the harassment of residents who have to make endless rounds of the police stations to keep themselves updated about their cases.
As for the residents of the city, the online system would not only go a long way in improving the transparency of the police department, but end the inconvenience they have to face now. It is only in the worst of the conditions when any person would like to visit the police stations for one work or the other. With the new system in place, the number of visits of the residents would drastically come down, ending the inconvenience they face while visiting the police stations time and again to check the status of their cases, said Manoj Gupta,a resident of Sector 6,Panchkula.
