Haryana power companies recover over Rs 100 cr as revenue in November

While recovering defaulting amount and checking electricity theft in the state, Haryana power distribution companies, Dakshin Dakshin Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam (DHBVN) and Uttar Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam, have received highest-ever monthly revenue of Rs 1003 crore, against sale of power (SOP) in November.

The Haryana government on Friday claimed that the monthly revenue of discoms has crossed Rs 1000-crore mark for the first time in the history of the state. "There has been an increase of 36.46 per cent in monthly revenue collection during November over the revenue collected in April — from Rs 735 crore in April to Rs 1003 crore in November. During October, the monthly revenue was Rs 991 crore," a DHBVN spokesperson said.

He added that during July and August, the consumption of power was maximum and thereafter, it reduced considerably. "But revenue collection, which was Rs 909 crore in July and Rs 905 crore in August, increased by about Rs 100 crore in November. During September, October and November, the discoms got Rs 2937 crore against Rs 2331 crore during corresponding months of last year," he added.

Officials have visited Bhutan over power purchase: Minister

Haryana Power Minister Captain Ajay Singh Yadav on Friday appreciated Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda's step to purchase 2000 MW of hydel power from Bhutan. Hooda will visit Bhutan on December 14 for the purpose. "I will not be part of this visit as I have to attend Vijay Divas Samaroh in Rewari on December 16. Officials of power utilities have already visited Bhutan and interacted with the authorities. The state is also exploring the possibilities of purchasing hydel power from Arunachal Pradesh," he said.
