Music maestro Shamir Tandon signs a three animation film music deal

It’s one of the fastest growing industries, one that has every age group hooked to it. Animation is up and coming, and the latest in toon town is that Shemaroo’s got music maestro Shamir Tandon on board and signed him for a three film-animation music deal. After the roaring success of Bal Ganesh, which was the first in the trilogy,Tandon’s music will ring in the next two,Bal Ganesh 2 whose release is round the corner and Panga Gang.

“India’s animation sector is witnessing a major boom. I am proud to be a part of this deal with Shemaroo as I hold their work in the highest regard. I like challenges and feel that children are the most difficult audience as they are very clear about their likes and dislikes,I hope these films too are big hits like Bal Ganesh,” says Shamir busy scoring for live action films including Sanjay Gupta’s Acid Factory,Madhur Bhandarkar’s Jail,PNC’s Click,Sangeeth Sivan and Vijayta Films’ Cheers – Celebrate Life and many more. In fact,he’s the guy who’s known for roping in uncoventional voices for playback. “Govinda,Boman Irani,Brett Le and Sanjay Dutt have sung my compositions,” he smiles. The music director also managed to convince the girls from the old Pop group,Viva to come together for recently released film ‘Aamras’ after a hiatus of almost five years. But how does an MBA in Marketing & International Business and a Cost Accountant choose music as a career? “I love chasing dreams,” says Shamir whose unconventional and out of the box ideas have resulted in international collaborations with popular artists like UK’s Blue for a song on Bipasha and Abhishek – remember One Love,Araash and Aneela in Bluffmaster for hits like Bure Bure and Say Na Say Na and even with Bob Sinclair for World Hold On! Recently,he got Lata Mangeshkar on board for Bhandarkar’s flicks.

Meanwhile, global entertainment giants like Walt Disney,Imax,Warner Brothers and Sony are signing up huge contracts with Indian animation companies. Founded in 1962,Shemaroo,after working in books, films, and television,is on to their next adventure – animation film. All the best!
