Sub Divisional Officer (SDO) of Haveli Avinash Hathgal would be conducting a hearing on over 350 objections received by the district collectors office on the draft Red Zone map around Dehu Ammunition Depot (DAD).
Resident deputy collector (RDC) Anil Pawar said the SDO would submit his report to the state government after the hearing.
The district collectorate had recently published the draft maps on the offical websites of Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC). The talathis have started mentioning Red Zone – no development zone in the records of right of the 7/12 land extracts of the designated land in the area.
Around 1,500 hectres of land spread across villages Talawade,Dehu,Kiwale,Mamurdi,Nigdi Pradhikaran and other areas have been identified as areas under the Red Zone of DAD.
The issue of marking the Red Zone around DAD had come up after a writ petition was filed in the Bombay High Court by a private company. The high court had asked the collectorate to survey and map the red zone around DAD. As per the Works of Defence Act 1903,2,000 yards of land around a defence establishment is supposed to be designated as Red Zone where no development activities are allowed.
Before finalising a notification,as per the Maharashtra Regional and Town Planning (MR&TP) Act,1966,hearing should be conducted before submitting the report to the state government. The process of the hearing will start soon, he said.
