  • In addition to Hazare, complaints against NCTE’s alleged corrupt ways have also come from former Rajya Sabha Congress MP Ram Niwas Mirdha. HRD Ministry officials also confirmed that there were several complaints against the body.

Incidentally, the HRD Ministry had constituted a committee led by former education secretary Sudeep Banerjee to examine the relevance of NCTE. Suggesting that the body be repealed, the committee had recommended that Diploma in Education (D Ed) and Bachelor of Education (B Ed) courses could easily be conducted by universities and there was no need for an additional body like NCTE. The HRD Ministry had even circulated a Cabinet note on the same in May 2007 but then the matter was suddenly buried. With Hazare’s complaint, the NCTE repeal issue has been revived and even the PMO is said to have asked the HRD Ministry to re-examine the issue.

Hazare warns HRD Ministry of NCTE graftBy: Prof. M.Sree Rama Murthy | 04-May-2009 Reply | Forward Aims and objectives of NCTE, when it was started were great It may be recalled the manner in which Teacher Education was revamped under the guidance of Prof. Rajput, its first Chairman. Due to a few corrupt, inefficient officers let us not think of closing such an Institution for which we (including me)have struggled right from 1970s to 1993.Educationists are requested to suggest ways and means such as: Change in curriculum for concept learning; OR preparation of a Teacher as per rural Indian cultural ethosOR how to make our children as creative
Dissolve AICTE in National InterestBy: Tina Shah | 11-Dec-2008 Reply | Forward Thieves are appointed as the top officials of AICTE at its head quarters. All the so called officials including Yadav, Rai, Bhalla, etc are corrupt, who are concerned about lakhs and crores not education. In the national interest, kindly dissolve AICTE.
Corruption in professional edicationBy: Sunny Thomas | 11-Dec-2008 Reply | Forward NCTE and AICTE are corrupt from top to bottom. I can give the evidence what takes place in AICTE headquarters at Delhi and NCTE at Bhopal. Only by hanging these corrupt so called government servants - starting from Chairman to Peon - the education in this country can be saved.
Corruption in NCTEBy: Dr. A. Kumar | 13-Oct-2008 Reply | Forward Excellent move taken by Hazare. This is not the picture of western committee only. This is the picture of NCTE as a whole. The issue of degradation in the qualification norms for the Lecturers should also be included with the main issue because the NCTE wants to favour the private institutions by granting the relaxation in qualification norms which leads to the exploitation of the Lecturers working in the private institutions running B.Ed./M.Ed. courses without defining service conditions. No service conditions has been defined for the Lecturers working in the Private institutions yet.
