Bombay High Court (HC) reserved judgment Friday on a PIL seeking action against a police officer accused of having links with the underworld.
The petition by NGO National Amnesty and Redemption Organisation International Trust has questioned why ACP Sudhakar Pujari is still in police and why no inquiry has been initiated against him despite several high-ranking officers, including then Mumbai police commissioner and DGP noting in files that he has underworld links.
In previous hearings, High Court asked the government to state whether it conducted a departmental inquiry against the officer and sought his service records.
The government told the court no adverse inference was found against Pujari.
The officer claimed he was being framed as he investigated an alleged scam in an MPSC examination for selection of police sub-inspectors, inspectors and assistant sales tax inspectors.
