HC reserves verdict on PIL against Nanavati Commission’s extension

The Gujarat High Court on Friday reserved its verdict on a public interest litigation (PIL) that objected to the extensions being given to the Nanavati-Mehta Commission and use of public money on its expenditures. The PIL has been moved by one Jignesh Goswami contending that after 10 years and expenses of huge amount, the commission has not been able to submit its final report. The state government has taken a defence that the commission has a mammoth task to complete the probe and it cannot conclude prematurely.
