The Calcutta High Court on Thursday stayed the sports department's order cancelling sports associations in all districts. On June 1, the principal secretary of the sports department had issued the order to cancel the sports associations in all districts. North Dinajpur District Sports Association and Hoogly District Sports Association approached the Calcutta High Court to strike down the order. The petition alleged that the order was illegal and the administration could not cancel a registered body in such a manner. After the arguments, Justice Dipankar Dutta stayed the order of the sports department saying that it was unreasonable.
