The Allahabad High Court on Thursday stayed the PCS (Judicial) Mains examinations of 2013,which were to begin September 28. It has directed the Uttar Pradesh Public Service Commission (UPPSC),which conducts the examination,to submit a report of its expert committee on the allegedly faulty answers pointed out by the petitioners. The court has fixed October 10 as the next date of hearing in the matter. The court passed the order while hearing a bunch of petitions in which it was pointed out that the answers to more than half-a-dozen questions in the Law and General Studies papers of the preliminary examinations were flawed. This affected the results of the aspirants,who were declared unsuccessful just by a few marks,the petitioners claimed. The petitioners had sought direction from the HC that the mistakes be rectified and they be allowed to take the mains examination. A division bench of Justices Rajes Kumar and Manoj Misra passed the order. The preliminary examinations were held in June and the results declared in August. As per the norms,after a particular examination is over,the UPPSC comes out with an answer key to the question papers and invites objections from the aspirants. Subsequently,the objections may or not be accepted. There were at least five questions in Law paper whose answers were wrong. Also,there were some such questions in the General Studies paper. The court has asked UPSC to submit its opinion on the questions, Rakesh Pande,counsel for petitioner Mohammad Akram and others.
