A Haryana Civil Services officer's wife and two minor children were found shot dead at their Samalakha residence in Panipat, with police suspecting it to be a case of suicide.
Anju, wife of Virender Singh Sherawat, and her two children Meghna, 11, and eight-year-old Parth were found dead at their house, Samalakha's Station House Officer (SHO) Tula Ram told PTI.
He said all the three were found in a pool of blood and a revolver was lying beside Anju.
Police have recovered a suicide note from the site but its contents were not disclosed.
Sherawat, who is General Manager of Haryana Roadways, Karnal, was last night posted as Sub-divisional magistrate of Hansi.
Sources claimed that Sherawat had been facing a case of sexual harassment during his tenure as Sub-divisional Magistrate of Ganuar and there were frequent fights between the couple over the issue.
"It appears to be a case of suicide as doors were locked from inside. Police had to break open the doors to get the bodies," Superintendent of Police, Panipat, M S Sheoron said.
"A forensic team is examining the crime spot. We have seized the weapon," Ram said, adding the officer was not home at the time of the incident.
