David Coleman Headley, the alleged LeT operative held by the FBI for plotting terror attacks in India and Denmark, had, according to police sources, frequented two cyber cafes close to his hotels in Paharganj during his March 7 to 10 stay there. Taking forward the tracing of his terror network, the police and National Investigation Agency (NIA) officers have obtained the details of his visits to the two cyber cafes as well as the hard disks of the computers he used to sent e-mails. The hard disks have been sent for examination.
The investigating agencies took the registers from Kesari cybernet café and Star View cyber café on Sunday. Anil,a worker at the Kesari cyber café,said,The police took the register of (the month of) March. We dont know anything more. These two cyber cafes are near Hotel Anand and De Holiday International, where Headley had stayed.
According to sources,Headley was in the Kesari cyber café on the evening of March 8 for almost an hour and had reportedly provided his identity proofs before surfing the Internet,as per requirements in cyber cafes. He used the Star View cyber café on March 9 and 10 for 35 and 55 minutes respectively, sources said.
The Delhi police is assisting the NIA in its investigations and a few members of its Anti- terrorist Squad Special Cell are in touch with the NIA officers. The officials involved in the investigations are also checking other cyber cafes and hotels in Paharganj. The two cyber cafes frequented by Headley did not have CCTV cameras installed inside and the police is questioning the cyber café owners to find out if Headley was accompanied by anyone. The Delhi police has also intensified checks in cyber cafes and hotels in other areas.
