    The free nature cure cell of the Save India Association (SIA) has launched a website called BackacheFreeWorld@yahoogroups.com so that the back pain is arrested and patients who are already suffering can help cure themselves with a simple yogic exercise for rejuvenating the spine.     First in country
    Dr Vasant Oswal Voice Disorder Clinic in Deenanath Mangeshkar Hospital has installed a high frequency jet ventilator machine ."The Switzerland made acutronic jet ventilator machine is used for surgical work in the voice box," said Dr Sachin Gandhi, director, Voice Clinic. This is the first clinic in India and amongst very few in the world to have such facility. This technology is used to give anesthesia for patients undergoing voice surgeries. The anesthesia is well controlled and allows surgeon to operate with good, unrestricted sight of the surgical field. This reduces the duration of the surgical procedure. This voice clinic has been first to install video laryngo stroboscopy and advanced laser for voice surgeries in the country. "This clinic has now become a well-equipped one and has successfully organised seven international voice conferences in past eight years," informed Gandhi.

    Music for all
    Under the initiative — Deenayan Kalaparva, a programme called Phite Andharache Jaale by singer, composer Sridhar Phadke has been organised by Deenanath Mangeshkar Hospital and Research Centre on October 5. The programme organised for patients and doctors is also open for music lovers. The entry is free for all on a first come first basis. The timing for the programme is between 6.30 and 8.30.

    Heart to heart
    Vaidya Sane's Ayurvedic Panchkarma Centre's non-invasive, safe and permanent solution for coronary blockages procedure has now become an accepted procedure by Government of India. Centre Council for research in Ayurveda and Siddha, department of Ayush, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India has accepted an article on this procedure. Dr Rohit Sane, managing mirector, Vaidya Sane, Ayurvedic Panchkarma Centre said, "We had officially introduced this procedure for the first time in India. Its non-invasive, safe and permanent solution for coronary blockages that prevents heart attacks and has been used in treating patients successfully. "This therapy is called Sampurna Hridaya Shuddhikaran. This is a therapy for weak hearts affected by high cholesterol, less blood supply, raised triglycerides and reduced strength of the muscular system of the heart. This also has the potential to treat a totally failing heart. Currently hypertension, which has become a very dreadful disease, can also be treated to a good extent by this procedure. About seven to 10 sittings are required for this procedure to get completed as a whole or sometimes it depends on the condition of the patient to decide how many sittings are required. Angina also shows a far more cure rate with this procedure.

    Bony affair
    Aditya Birla hospital has started joint replacement surgeries using foreign implants manufactured by internationally reputed companies. An advanced pain management program is in place in conjunction with the anaesthetist doctors. Dr Kiran Kharat is the director of arthritis and joints replacement unit at Aditya Birla hospital and has amassed wide experience in the same in last 14 years in the UK and India. Dr Kharat has performed more than 1000 joint replacement surgeries.

    Ayurvedic remedy for diabetes
    Recipient of last year's Rajeev Gandhi Puraskar and Rashtriya Ratan Puraskar — Vanitha Ayur Research Centre has come up with a clinically proven formulation to fight type II diabetes. According to researchers, regular consumption of the formulation is set to offer positive results within a span of a fortnight. Vanitha Ayur Research Centre manufactures Meha Mix capsules after subjecting the herbal extracts through strict pharmacology and toxicology regulations, under the stipulated GMP standards. The research centre has also received the Award for quality control in 2007. The capsules are available in a 30's bottle and 10's blister.
