Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa on Monday urged the AIADMK cadre to help the party grow beyond its traditional base and to a position where it can influence national politics.
Her party would emerge as a decisive force if it realises its potential in the next Lok Sabha election, Jaya reiterated in a letter to the cadre on the 95th birth anniversary of AIADMK founder M G Ramachandran.
Time would ignore those who are pre-occupied with their family, wife, companion, sons, daughters, grandsons and granddaughters, Jaya said, in an apparent dig at her rival, DMK chief M Karunanidhi. She was delighted, Jaya added, to remove him and his family from power. The future, she told the cadre, was theirs for the taking if they work hard.
The AIADMK's sweep of the TN Assembly elections last year and its subsequent victory in local polls have enthused Jayalalithaa and she is now said to be eyeing a position where she can influence national politics.
