Alertness on part of a German national led to the arrest of his domestic help whom he captured on camera, stealing money from his Sector-16 residence. A spate of thefts in the last 5 months at his residence led Egon Jose Goudard to suspect the help. After she denied involvement,he installed a camera at his house,Goudard told the police.
The help,Rajni, has confessed to have stolen the money and gave it to her husband, who bought a TV,a scooter and a mobile phone with the money stolen. Rajni, along with her husband Jasbir Singh has been arrested.
In his complaint,Goudard alleged that Rajni,a resident of Colony No 5,had stolen approximately Rs 2 lakh since he had employed her in December. Goudard is a weldshop manager in Class India Private Limited,Morinda,a Germany-based company, and has been living with his wife and three children in Sector 16. Of late, they had been noticing that cash was being stolen at frequent intervals from their house. After Rs 8,000 went missing recently, they suspected Rajni, but she denied her involvement. Goudard then installed a camera and deliberately left her alone at their residence.
We decided to catch her in action and deliberately left her behind in the house yesterday after installing a camera. She was captured stealing an amount of Rs 1,100 from my wifes purse, Goudard said, while showing the video to the investigators at the Sector 17 Police Station.
He had brought Rajni to the police station, who admitted to have committed the theft before the policemen. Rajni,a mother of one-year-old child, told the police that she had stolen the cash and handed it over to her husband Jasbir Singh,a driver by profession.
Additional SHO of Sector 17,Inspector Gurjit Kaur said a police team raided Rajnis house and recovered three mobile phones,a TV,Rs 1,090,some Euros and a scooter.
