“A person can express his will in writing (form can be downloaded) to donate his body. The body, along with the death certificate, should be transported within three to five hours to the Department of Anatomy of the PGIMER,Chandigarh or to any other nearby medical college/institute,” said the spokesperson on Friday.

In case of difficulty in transporting vehicle will be provide by the department from the Tricity of Chandigarh to PGIMER. If the body is brought during non-working hours,it can be kept in cold chamber at the PGI mortuarym which is open 24 hours.

“Cadaveric dissection is an integral part of the curriculum of any medical school. Even surgeons and anatomists require them. Hence, there is need to popularise the message to common masses to donate their bodies after death, which can be preserved by embalming and later can be used for teaching and research purposes,” the hospital stated.
