Heroin worth Rs 18 crore was found in pomegranate boxes which one Ravinder Arora, owner of Manjit Fruit Shop, had imported from Afghanistan.

In a press conference held in Ludhiana, SSP Dr S S Gill said, “The fruit shop owner owns a shop near Kailash Chowk and had imported 40 boxes of pomegranate. In the two boxes, they found two packets of heroin weighing 3.6 kgs whose worth is Rs 18 crore in the international market.”

It needs to be mentioned that the supply came via the Wagah border and hence role of Pakistan has also come under a scanner. The SSP said the details of the commission agent from whom the fruit was imported have been noted down to establish any link.
