  • Shetland Island-based Blackwood’s Distilleries is introducing Diva Vodka, the world’s costliest liquor, in India later this month. The price: $ 450,000 or Rs 1.9 crore for 750 ml. Advertised by the company as the world’s most glamourous vodka, its patrons include the likes of Jennifer Lopez and Angelina Jolie.

The high cost is because the vodka bottle is lined with Swarovski crystals and diamonds. When the vodka is poured, it comes filtering through these gems. The cost of the vodka depends upon the quantity and quality of the gems. The company intends to launch some economy models priced around Rs 2 lakh per bottle, and even these would make Diva Vodka the costliest liquor in the country.

Speaking to The Indian Express, Jagmohan Kanwar, Country Director, Agways—the authorised agency for the product in India—said: “For the higher range models, we are targetting the top business families and film industry names. Regarding the lower priced model, we have already got a enquiries from hotel chains like the Oberoi and the Taj. Internationally, Hollywood stars have gifted the product at occasions like weddings.”

The product is distilled by an all-woman team based in Scotland.

“Once you place the order, the company tries to learn about your tastes. The product taste and the diamond line is customised to suit your requirement. It is then shipped in a special consignment and a team of guards delivers the bottle, which is shaped like a woman’s body, to your house,” said Kanwar.
