  • A woman has accused an undergarment store owner in Ghaziabad of putting an operational camera in the store cum trial room she had used during shopping on Wednesday.

Neither shop owner nor the salesgirls told her about the camera when she went in to change, she alleged. The shop owner has been arrested and a case under sections related to obscene acts, words, gesture and acts intended to outrage the modesty of a woman has been filed.

The woman, a resident of Sahibabad, is to be married soon. In her complaint lodged at the Kotwali police station, she said she had gone to the Bhabhiji Hosiery store in Turabnagar the previous day, but did not buy anything. The next day, she went back to make her purchases.

“After changing, I came out of the store room,” read the complaint. “When I went inside the room again, I saw an operational camera there. I started asking the shop owner and the salesgirls about it. They said it was switched on.”

Three salesgirls, shop owner Harendra Gandhi and his son were present in the store at that time, the police said. The police paid a visit to the store. “Though we found the camera inside the room, it was not on,” said Rahul Yadvendu, SP city, Ghaziabad.
