Bombay High Court (HC) asked the striking Maharashtra Federation of University and College Teachers Organisation (MFUCTO) and the state government Thursday to arrive at an amicable settlement by April 30,when the case will be heard again.
High Court was responding to a petition by Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) challenging the strike.
Representatives of MFUCTO and ABVP will meet minister for higher and technical education Rajesh Tope Friday afternoon.
Uday Warunjikar, lawyer for ABVP,said: MFUCTO made a significant statement today before the court that it will not physically stop teachers from doing exam work.
The strike has been called to demand recognition for non-NET/SLET teachers appointed between April 1991 and January 2000.
