The Punjab and Haryana High Court on Monday became the fourth High Court in the country to declare assets of its judges. The Kerala High Court was the first High Court to do so,followed by the Madras and Delhi High Courts.
The assets have been posted on the official website of the High Court (www.highcourtchd.gov.in). Their and their spouses and dependants assets have been disclosed by the judges.
Of the 47 judges of the High Court,10 do not possess any vehicle. They are: Chief Justice Mukul Mudgal; Justices A K Goel,Jasbir Singh,Permod Kohli,Rajive Bhalla,S D Anand,A N Jindal,Sham Sunder,Sabina and K Kannan.
On the other hand,there are judges who own swanky vehicles Justice Mehtab Singh Gill has a Volkswagen (Jetta) and Justice Alok Singh possesses a Mercedez Benz (Kompressor).
While some judges have huge chunks of land,including ancestral property,Justice Augustine George Masih is the only judge who does not have any immovable property in his or his spouse or dependants name.
Justices Rajive Bhalla,Jaswant Singh and Jora Singh have no immovable property in their names but their spouses or dependants own such property.
When it comes to owning vehicles,Justice Masih has a Kinetic Honda scooter (purchased in 1998),Justice Daya Chaudhary has a Chetak Scooter (1986 model) and one Honda City (2006 model),Justice Ajay Tewari has a Royal Enfield and Mahindra Scorpio Jeep (2003 model) and Justice T P S Mann has a Hero Honda Karizma (2003 model) and a Honda City (1998 model).
Exhaustive details of their assets have been disclosed by the judges. Justice Surya Kant has mentioned that he owns a Rolex watch.
Justices Mehtab Singh Gill,S S Saron and Ranjit Singh,among others,have listed their weapons as well. Justice Ranjit Singh has a .22 bore rifle,.12 bore DBBL gun (with 25 cartridges each) and a .38 bore revolver. Justice Ajai Lamba has a .32 bore revolver and a .380 bore pistol.
Also,Justices Kanwaljit Singh Ahluwalia and Rajesh Bindal have disclosed the companies in which they hold shares Justice Bindal has shares in 29 companies.
The judges had submitted a list of their assets to the Chief Justice on March 31 for making them public.
