The show,spread over seven weeks,will be judged by singers Sukhwinder Singh and Kailash Kher and hosted by rapper Hard Kaur. It will have 12 talented singers competing to be IPL Rockstar 2010. Bollywood superstars and IPL franchise owners will be on the panel including Shahrukh Khan,Preity Zinta and Shilpa Shetty.

“IPL Rockstar is a music-based reality show that will move from the studio to the cricketing grounds amidst real action. The audience will witness a coming together of cricket and music with this differently programming initiative,” says Ashvini Yardi,programming head of Colors.

The participants are mostly established performers like Amit Paul,Mohammad Irfan,Harshdeep Kaur,Sandeep Acharya,Reecha Tripathy,Saptaparna Chakraborty,Arnab Chakraborty,Rahul Saxena,Aishwarya Nigam,Antara Mitra and Sumedha Karmahe.

“In a country that worships cricket,we couldn’t have asked for a better opportunity to make content out of the largely followed IPL,” says Deepak Dharsays,MD,Endemol India,which is producing the show.

“The show has that extra zing of being associated with cricket. I hope I am able to do a great job,” says Hard Kaur,a first-time anchor. “I once had the choice to become either a singer or an athlete. Now I’ve got a chance to be associated with a sport all over again,and I feel this show is here to redefine live shows. The best part is that the reaction of the crowd will be instant and in real time,” says Sukhwinder Singh. “My job is to keep an eye out for the one who has confidence,charisma,a powerful voice and is a real performer,” adds Kailash Kher.
