  • Through it all, India should focus on two important factors. First, we are acting for a collective good. Second, we have to mature out of our old “Indian Ocean mindset”. Acting in concert with others means we are involved in a naval grand coalition for an international cause and not a one-off, single-benefit action.

Besides, for long we have believed that if the big navies just sailed out of the Indian Ocean things would be peaceful. That belief was always unrealistic and utopian. In fact, international naval presence in the region will work to everyone’s advantage except the breakers of the peace. It is India’s call to engage its navy long term in this greater good. The future will vouch for what we gain in the process.

PiracyBy: anijog | 21-Nov-2008 Reply | Forward As indian we always would be looking at moments like these which make us feel proud about our small accidental? adventure, which goes to say that Indians would like to see the indian military flex it muscles internationally, only the govt, dithering posture seems to be weaking the capability of our military. Most of international media does not even seem to be convinced that this was a determined and motivated engagement and places it in the accidental catergory where the indian navy was just available at the right time

media attentionBy: ANJAN KUMAR SAMAL | 21-Nov-2008 Reply | Forward Actually it is a matter of worry and distressful that before rescue of hijacked sailors neither the media nor the government of India did show any kind of enthusiasim as now in the so called success of Indian navy in Somali coast. When the relatives of sailors were knocking the door of Indian authorities for their own's rescue, all the media and political parties of this country along with the govt. were busy to increase their TRP and did not give any attention in a positive way to rescue them.We should think of them who serve for our nation that we might have forgot. No doubt Indian Navy did a great job.As the media is focusing this issue now,it could have done earlier when the Indian sailors were in captivity of Somalian pirates. As the media is the third eye of the society , it is the prime duty for the media to highlight those issues which are connected with the social sentimnets.
The Indian navy’s dramatic successBy: Joginder Nath | 21-Nov-2008 Reply | Forward Involvement of Indian Navy in attacking pirates mother vassle has put Indian merchant vassels in danger in the same route because all the nations are unable to safeguard a vast sea where somali pirates are operating. So, sure India has to deploy a large navy, in case she wish to safeguard the whole sea from India Ocean till Canal suez, specially when Indian Navy has involved itself in this matter it has to safe guard each and every Indian ship transiting though that path, it has become a presigeous issue now.
