FRANCHISE LINE-UP
Delhi: The Wave Group promoted by the Chadhas has picked up the ownership rights. Former captain and Olympian Ajit Pal Singh is a consultant with the team.
Lucknow: Sahara Group with interest in Formula One, IPL and hockey own the Lucknow franchise. Former India skipper Dhanraj Pillay will be working as consultant/executive director. Dutch hockey great Roelant Oltmans is set to become coach.
Mumbai: Amit Burman, the vice-chairman of Dabur, is the chief promoter of the Mumbai franchise. Renowned Australian coach Ric Charlesworth has been appointed the coach, while Clarence Lobo is a consultant with the team.
Ranchi: The Patel-Uniexcel Group, a tie-up between business partners Suresh Kumar Chauhan and Vikram Jain have bought the Ranchi franchise. Olympian Baljit Singh Saini and South Africa national coach Gregg Clark are on board and so is David John, the former trainer of the Indian team.
Punjab: The Jaypee Group, which hosts the Indian Grand Prix, has acquired the rights for this team. Two-time Olympian Jagbir Singh will be one of the coaches, while fellow Olympian Zafar Iqbal is a consultant. Australian Barry Dancer was appointed coach on Saturday.
MARQUEE LIST
With only five teams in the fray, SV Sunil with a base price of $13,900 will be added into the auction list from the marquee list.
The five marquee players are: Sardar Singh ($27,800), Sandeep Singh ($27,800), Jamie Dwyer, Teun de Nooijer, Moritz Fuertse — all in the $25,000 bracket.
AUCTION DAY
The inaugural Hockey India League auction will begin with the five franchises handing over silent bids in sealed 'nomination price forms' for the marquee players. The sealed silent bids will be opened by the auctioneer and the marquee players will be allotted to respective teams according to highest bids.
