Private universities in Himachal that are facing strong criticism and stiff opposition will have to adhere to stringent norms and regulatory measures as the Assembly on Thursday finally passed the Private Education Institutions (Regularity Commission) Bill. The Bill was introduced in the previous session of Assembly but due to strong protests by the Congress,it was referred to the Select Committee of the House to make it more effective for regulation of private varsities. The measures include heavy fines and closure of a university if the Regulatory Commission finds glaring irregularities.
