Luv Sinha, who debuts in Sadiyaan,is happy being a starkid
Drawing a comparison would be unfair to both father and son. You simply cannot compare legendary or established actors with newcomers, argues Shatrughan Sinha,as he takes the spotlight and delivers an eloquent speech on his son,Luv Sinha, who is set to debut in Raj Kanwars Sadiyaan on April 2. The Sinhas had stopped for a quick promotion at The Taj on Sunday evening for the movie, which has been mostly shot in Punjab.
I didnt choose the film, the film chose me, says Luv,taking care not to sound rehearsed. It is interesting to watch him speak and be politely corrected by the father every now and then. For instance, his fascination with dark characters,to essay a stylised villain like his father makes the elder Sinha jump in for a clarification. Dont say that, theyll write you want to be a khalnayak, he retorts. The occasional fatherly interruptions apart,Luv is clear that hes lucky to be a starkid. My father is my friend, philosopher, guide and mentor, and the Sinha name is definitely a boon. But I am also aware of the fact that there is no golden ticket to stardom. There will always be a period of struggle and I am one of those who rise when under pressure, says the 20-something who plays Ishaan Singh in Sadiyaan.
Talk about sharing the screen space with legendary actors like Rekha,Hema Malini and Rishi Kapoor, and Luv answers how it was an educative experience. Hemaji is cool and calm,Rishiji infuses life, while as for Rekha, she is a timeless beauty who revels in perfection, remarks Luv.
Debuting opposite him is Kashmiri girl Ferena Wazeir. The film portrays powerful emotions Indo-Pak relations in the backdrop. We were looking for a Pakistani girl and Wazeir fitted the role, says Luv. When asked why he chose a romance to begin with,he says: My goals are simple. I am not here to restrict myself to a 10-20 per cent audience of movie-goers,I am here to entertain the masses. Being brought up in a commercial, mainstream film environment,Id rather do what I know best, he reasons.
While sister Sonakshi will soon be seen in Salman Khans Dabang,Luvs not interested in sharing details on any other projects except the one he and his twin,Kush are working on. He is the filmmaker and weve been discussing stories for a while. We will make one for sure on double roles as we are tailor-made for it, he signs off.
