Hoax call disrupted CR local service in Mumbai

Suburban train services on Central Railway were disrupted not because of agitation by the motormen but due to a hoax call received at a suburban railway station.

Suburban train services on Central Railway were today disrupted not because of agitation by the motormen but due to a hoax call received at a suburban railway station this morning, railway officials said.

“Trains from fast track route had to be diverted to slow track following a hoax call this morning which said a bomb has been planted at the Dombivli railway station,” chief public relations officer Shriniwas Mudgerikar told reporters here.

He said this resulted in a 30-minute delay in train services on the central line but normalcy would be restored soon.

Mudgerikar rubbished reports that the delay was caused due to the agitation carried out by motormen against the lack of help rendered to motorman R Ramchandran, who was killed in the accident that occurred on October 24 when a pipeline collapsed on a train at Thane.

“Apart from the Rs 10 lakh announced by railway minister Mamata Banerjee,we have also given Rs five lakh to Ramchandran’s family and have also promised a railway job for one of the family members,” Mudgerikar said.

He also said the Central Railway Mazdoor Sabha (CRMS) union has assured that they are not agitating and will not go on strike.
