In 2014,there will be a total of 126 holidays, including the weekends.

A quick analysis of the official holiday list released on Tuesday by the Maharashtra government for the year 2014 reveals that people can look for eight extended weekends next year. In other words,on eight instances, residents of the state can expect one or two additional days off before or after the weekends.

The holidays that will precede or succeed weekends are Holi (March 7,Monday),Gudi Padwa (March 31,Monday),Dr Ambedkar Jayanti (April 14,Monday),Good Friday (April 18,Friday) and Ganesh Chaturthi (August 29,Friday).

On three occasions,in August and in October, the residents are set to get a four-day break, with government holidays falling before and after the weekends. The August treat will start with Independence Day (August 15) that falls on a Friday and continue till the Parsi New Year (August 18) on Monday, with a weekend thrown in between.
