Rs 7-crore blouse…but not up for sale
Havent heard of a piece of clothing so expensive, but here it is in all its sparkling glory at a jewellery store near you.
We got the bustier designed as a souvenir to commemorate the recent visit of the Prince and Princess of Belgium, said Vinay Jain,CEO of Orra diamond jewellery,in Lucknow on Tuesday to celebrate the seventh anniversary of the company, bringing along a blouse studded with diamondsall of 1,400 karatsand worth 1 million euros,or 7 crore Indian rupees.
Instead of jewellery,I decided on something to suggest that diamonds can go as far as your imagination can take them, said Jain about the garment that took six months to create by winners of De Beers Award for jewellery design.
The neckline is fashioned like a hasli and rest of the bustier is a mesh of the most desirable stone.
Nobody has ordered or offered to buy it but people have shown interest in replicating parts of it,confirms Jain.
Theres an annual growth of 30 per cent in sale of diamond jewellery in India. People are including it in trousseaus and every now and then there is an order to stud diamonds on bags, watches and mobile phones, says Jain.
Rashmi, the model who posed in arguably the costliest little clothing in the world,is a Lucknow University graduate, seen earlier on Imagine TV in Rahul (Mahajan) ka Swayamvar as one of the participants. I feel on top of the world, is the obvious thing she said about being in the blouse that will stay at the brands Lucknow outlet for about three days, before it is flown across the nation and abroad as part of the anniversary celebration.
