While opinions are aplenty and actual answers few to run by security standards have been raised post 26/11. As “New people need to register into visitor’s books. No such car checking is done. Some of them don’t want to put identity stickers on their cars,We are a self formed society and cant afford hi-fi security as we have other expenses to consider as well,” says Rashid Khan (name changed),treasurer of Swapna Nagri Society in Pimpri which consists of 396 flats and 36 shops.

Arvind Higde (name changed),secretary of Sylvan Heights in Aundh,says that the security guards check each car before it enters the society. Also a logbook of all the visitors along with the purpose of their visit is maintained and the same is also confirmed by cross checking with the resident.

Post 26/11 however a surge in the employment of the services of security agencies post has been witnessed. As Raj Shirke,the CEO of Vision India points out “Day by day the people’s views on security of their homes are changing. This causes a change in their security needs. We mostly have contracts for suburban areas. We provide the security manpower,unarmed guards,for Ganga Satellite in Kondwa and Latish project in Koregaon Park. In keeping up with the modern times we have ensured that they have top of the end security services installed at their premises and the trained man power to handle them”

While most societies cannot afford CCTV cameras and are also slack in checking cars or visitors entering the society this is an aspect that has gotten most societies to come together to find alternate solutions. After paying society charges for various amenities beefing up on security of the societies is something that everyone across the length and breath of the city are giving it a serious thought.
