Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda on Thursday took strong exception to allegations of him being regionally biased. While replying on the discussion on Governors Address in the Haryana Assembly,Hooda targetted the Opposition with facts and figures and also reiterated his claims that Haryana was the No. 1 state on many parameters in the country.
Referring to the allegations of biased development,Hooda cited examples of various announcements made by him and listed out major developmental projects coming up in almost every district. It is right that 1,237 announcements were made for Rohtak from 2005 to 2012,out of which 716 were for the area of my own constituency. But these announcements involve an investment of only Rs 25 crore. There is no constituency in Haryana where less than Rs 25 crore have been spent on development works, he said.
While adding that the government was implementing various programmes for all sections,Hooda said while commissions for SCs,human rights, women and children have been set up,Lokayukta has also been appointed.
Referring to the issue of literacy raised by INLD MLA Ashok Arora,Hooda said: In 2005,the dropout rate in primary classes was 12.66 per cent, which is now one per cent. In upper primary classes,it has reduced from 24.51 per cent to two per cent..
ON INTER-STATE WATER ISSUE
We are ready to settle inter-state water dispute with Punjab by sitting across the table, provided they give Haryana its due share of water. I ensure that due share of states water reaches southern Haryana and the BML Hansi Butana Link Canal has already been constructed. We are prepared for out of court settlement to resolve water dispute with Punjab.
ON INLD
They are the dark past and we are the bright future of Haryana. I think there is no use in flogging dead horses.
