INLD chief Om Prakash Chautala on Tuesday levelled serious allegations of a nexus in real-estate dealings, run by Haryana's top politicians including Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda and senior Congress leader and former minister Venod Sharma.
Chautala also alleged that Congress president Sonia Gandhi's son-in-law Robert Vadra was sold the controversial piece of land in village Shikhopur, Gurgaon, by firms whose directors had links with Sharma and his family.
However, Sharma denied the allegations, saying, "I belong to a family of businessmen. We are into various businesses for the last four decades and all such businesses are according to law. Chautala is a habitual liar and has a habit of levelling malicious and frivolous allegations.... We are not like him, who amassed huge amounts of money, without doing any business."
Earlier, at a press conference, Chautala alleged that real estate companies Onkareshwar Properties Private Limited and Mark Buildtech Properties Private Limited are registered on the same address of a flat in Nehru Place, New Delhi. Onkareshwar Properties is the company, which sold 3.5 acres in Shikhopur to Vadra's Skylight Hospitality Limited.
Onkareshwar Properties has Satyanand Yajee as its director. Yajee is general secretary of the All India Freedom Fighters Organisation and in charge of constructing and maintaining a memorial in the name of Hooda's father Chaudhary Ranbir Singh in Rohtak, he said.
The other company — Mark Buildtech — has Venod Sharma's son Kartikeya Sharma as its director. Kartikeya owns 99 per cent shares of this company, Chautala alleged. "Both the companies had dealt with each other as Onkareshwar also invested in Mark Buildtech. The documents prove this. Both have directors, who are closely associated to Hooda and Sharma. Both the companies are registered on the same address. In 2008, one single licence to develop housing colonies was issued by the state government to a bunch of companies, which included Onkareshwar, Shivam Infotech Private Limited, Mark Buildtech, Pegasus Developers Shikhopur Pvt. Ltd, Spear Developers Pvt Ltd. All these companies stood benefitted from that licence," Chautala alleged.
