Host MIT makes the cut,wins Robocon prize

The Maharashtra Institute of Technology Pune,playing host to the national robotics contest,Robocon,for seven years,finally won Robocon 2010 defeating Vishwakarma Institute of Technology at Balewadi Sports Complex.

The Maharashtra Institute of Technology (MIT),Pune,playing host to the national robotics contest,Robocon,for seven years,finally won Robocon 2010 defeating Vishwakarma Institute of Technology (VIT) at Balewadi Sports Complex.

MIT will now represent India in the International Robocon 2010 in Egypt. Both MIT and VIT reached the final beating two teams from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT),Mumbai.

“We are thrilled. Though we have been hosting the event for seven years,it was as if we were just good event managers,not performers. We have proved ourselves,” said Sunil Karad,executive director,MITSOT. MIT’s Prashant Donkanti,said,“We’ve been working on this robot for over a year. We owe this victory to the college and staff”.

MIT,Pune
Best Manual Operator:IIT,Kanpur
Best Automatic Robot:VIT,Pune
Best Idea Award:NSIT Bairanpur
Best Rookie Award:Govt College Engineering,Aurangabad
1st Runner up:VIT,Pune
2nd Runner up:IIT-A Team,Mumbai
Prof Balakrishna Memorial Robocon:MIT,Pune
