Housing minister sends Mamata the Rajarhat fact book

State Housing Minister Goutam Deb is literally breathing down the neck of Union Minister for Railways Mamata Banerjee on the Rajarhat-New Town issue. Keeping his earlier promise of furnishing a book listing all details about Jyoti Basu Nagari (Rajarhat Newtown), Deb sent HIDCO officials to Mamata's home on Monday afternoon with the first volume of a Fact Book. "The book contains all details on how much land has been acquired for the township and for what price, who have given up land and answers every other question raised by Banerjee regarding the township," said Runu Ghosh, Joint Secretary, (Housing, HIDCO), who along with Uma Ghosh, ADG Planning (HIDCO) had visited Banerjee's house at 2.30 pm.

The duo, however refused to say why of all ministers, the Union Railway Minister was sent a copy of the FACT Book on Rajarhat. Alongwith the book, a letter written by Deb was also handed over at the office of the Trinamool leader. The letter read: "Kindly honour us with your constructive comments and suggestions on the matter as this will help us in future... Rajarhat being one of the flagship projects of the West Bengal government the livelihood of a vast number of people are at stake. We have to rise above local issues in this matter."
