HSC goof-up: Students to get full marks

After messing up a seven marks question in one of the four sets of English papers, the Maharashtra Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education (MSBSHSE) has agreed to give full marks to students who attempted it. In one of the four sets of English papers of Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) exam held on February 23, a seven marks question was wrong. Over 12 lakh students took the exam out of which 3 lakh students got the wrong set. Out of the four sets of question papers A,B C and D, set B had the wrong question. Question number 5 of the paper was an unseen paragraph. The four questions based on this passage were not related to the passage. Vidya Tambe of Fergusson college was relieved to find that she will be awarded full marks for attempting the wrong question."I lost some time thinking what to do about the question but then thank god they are giving full marks," Vidya said.

As per MSBSHSE rules, if a group of paper setter makes a mistake then they they are banned for life. They will also have to return back the money given to them by the board for setting HSC papers. "All evaluators have been instructed to give full marks to students who attempted the wrong question," said Sarjerao Jadhav, chairman, MSBSHSE. "We will look into the matter and strict action will be taken against the careless paper setter," he added. ENS
