With the economy showing signs of revival, the Haryana Urban Development Authority (HUDA) has decided to hold auctions of several commercial and six school sites in Panchkula.
Auction for the school sites will be held on September 14 at the HUDA office in Sector 6,Panchkula. The reserved price for commercial sites is also being discussed.
There are around 20 to 25 commercial sites in Sectors 26 and 27,and several motor market sites in Sector 20 and Industrial Area,Phase II. The reserved price for commercial sites is being worked upon. The auction is expected by the end of September, a senior HUDA official said.
The last auction for commercial sites was held in October 2008.
The auction of the six school sites in Panchkula will be held on September 14. Two sites are in Sector 21,one in Sector 14,and one each in Sectors 19,25 and 28. Of these sites, three are for primary schools, two for nursery schools and one for high school, the official said, adding that they are expecting a good response.
The reserved price for the schools sites is less than what it should have been, the official said. Generally, the rule is that the final price at the last auction becomes the reserved price in the next auction. If we go by the last auction for school sites in January 2007,the reserved price will be more than what it has been fixed now, the official said.
For Panchkula residents,it is a welcome development,as they have been demanding schools in these sectors. There are not many private schools in the area, and they are not affordable for people with low income. We have been demanding a good school for long, a resident said.
