Huge dump of arms recovered in Baramulla in Kashmir

The arms dump was dug out by a joint search party of police and Rashtriya Rifles at Frastihar village in Kreeri area.

In a major arms haul,security forces on Monday unearthed a huge dump of weapons,ammunition and explosives smuggled from across the border by militants in Baramulla district of North Kashmir.

The arms dump was dug out by a joint search party of police and Rashtriya Rifles at Frastihar village in Kreeri area,30 kms from here,a police spokesman said.

He said the arms seized from the dump included an AK assault rifle,its five magazines,111 rounds,two Chinese pistols with three magazines and 10 rounds,an Ak silencer,two 12-bore guns,seven hand grenades,two rockets,an Under Barrel Grenade Launcher (UBGL) with 27 grenades,four high explosive bombs and three explosive sticks.

In addition,21 Improvised Explosive Device (IED) connectors,60 IED circuits,13 IED transformers,two IED batteries,a wireless set with a charger and 804 pika rifle rounds were recovered from the dump,the spokesman said.

The arms dump was located on the bed of a stream in the village and was unearthed on a specific information gathered by police.

This is the second major arms recovery in Kreeri area of Baramulla in recent months. Earlier,security forces unearthed two water tanks filled with arms and ammunition a few months back.
