The Chandigarh Administration has proposed to construct a hydrotherapy pool and activity centre for physically-challenged children within the Prayaas Complex in Sector 38-B at an estimated cost of Rs 3 crore.

Elaborating on the project, UT Home Secretary Ram Niwas said the initiative has been undertaken to create a place where children with special needs can socialise with others and also learn practical skills in a fun and creative environment. The objective is to provide facilities related to the treatment and entertainment of children all under one roof.

The hydrotherapy pool will provide the benefits of physiotherapy to children suffering from disabilities including cerebral palsy, stroke, encephalitis, bone and joint injuries and spinal cord defects while the activity centre will serve as a recreation-cum-day care centre where parents can leave their children in a safe and nurturing environment, Niwas added.
