The lawyer of convicted former Haryana DGP S P S Rathore on Sunday claimed the “hype” created in the Ruchika Girhotra molestation case could not besustained in the light of the facts.

“The entire trial was conducted in consonance with the provisions of the Code of Criminal Procedure. If any party had any grievance,it could prefer an appeal or the revision as the case may be in the appropriate court of law,” Ajay Jain, who had been Rathore’s counsel during the trial in the Ruchika molestation case in an Ambala court, told reporters here.

On the issue of addition of Section 306 of the Indian Penal Code (abetment to suicide) in the case,he said it “had already achieved the finality as the Supreme Court had earlier affirmed the verdict of Punjab and Haryana High Court of setting aside the judgment of the trial court adding Section 306 of the IPC in the trial”.

Former Haryana DGP S P S Rathore was convicted by a CBI court in Chandigarh in the molestation case and handed down a six-month jail sentence.

In November 2009,the case was transferred from a court in Ambala to a CBI court in the union territory.
