Shah Rukh was detained for questioning at Newark international airport and grilled for two hours before being let off by U.S. immigration authorities.

Shah Rukh Khan on Saturday termed the incident at Newark Airport in the US as "uncalled" for saying the experience made him feel "angry and humiliated".

"I was really hassled at the American Airport because of my name being Khan...The couple of hours of interrogation wanting to know if I know anyone in America while all around people were vouching for me from India and Pakistan (sic)," the Bollywood superstar said in a statement.

"Only these guys just would not let me through.

Finally they allowed me to make a call, which I did and the Indian Consulate helped me through.

Khan, who was on his way to Chicago to attend an Independence Day function was detained at the Newark Airport and questioned for about two hours before the Indian mission intervened and secured his release.

"It was absolutely was uncalled for I think, me having just finished working there for more than a month...just a couple of weeks ago. They said I have a common name which is causing the delay...checked my bags...I felt angry and humiliated," Khan, who had just finished shooting of his latest movie "My Name is Khan", said.

MrsBy: Gayatri | 31-Aug-2009 Reply | Forward Sharuk, being a film star does not mean that security officers shouldn't do their duty. Every country should have this kind of security to ensure there are no terrorism in the world. We as an Indian should appreciate it and you should have given a statement to media stating that I expect India alsohave similar kind of security measures.
Sharukh's angerBy: Ananth | 16-Aug-2009 Reply | Forward Why this fuss over the detention of Sharukh? Why does he he feel humiliated? People from different parts of the world are questioned and interrogated every day. Airline crew members are interrogated some times although they fly in and out of US every day. Let the security do their job. I appreciate non-chalant statement of Salman in this regard. Had our security been alert and caught the people who were encouraging Talibans and terrorists(ironically Americans were also involved in Talibanisation and Terror networks), our country wouldn't have been in this pitiable position with regard to the security and terror attacks. Wake up nd let our security too to do their jobs instead of inteference from out lobbysists and politicians.

Indian Immigration officers.By: Kerisnaji rao | 16-Aug-2009 Reply | Forward Shah Rukh, Don't get so angry man. I have seen Indian immigration officer at Calcutta International Airport Humiliate and iltreat a young student from Bengaladesh. These officers have no respect for international travellers. They are a disgrace.Indians should get together and put their house inorder. The Americans are scared of all Muselmans. They probably did not know who you were. They do now.
Americans are dumbBy: Pradeep Phadke | 16-Aug-2009 Reply | Forward After the two incidents involving President Kalam and now SRK I am convined that the average American is probably more dumb than any other national. With all those IT systems and complete tracking of past visitors to US if those jokers can not identify APJ or SRK then one can only conclude that these yankees at the US imigrations and customs are absolute duds.As for SRK,he should not worry too much.India and Indians love him and that is far greater satisfaction than ever going to the land of educated fools.
