I am not Arjun Singh’s ‘official spokesperson’,says Ajay

Ajay Singh would not like to comment on his father's silence over the Bhopal Gas tragedy.

Ajay Singh,son of former Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Arjun Singh,on said that he would not like to comment on his father’s silence over the Bhopal Gas tragedy as he was not his “official spokesperson”.

“It is for my father to decide when and what to say and I have nothing to do with it,” Ajay said.

The Congress legislator said it was his duty to stand by his father in these trying times and he was performing it to the best of his ability.

“I am Arjun Singh’s son and I greatly admire and respect my father,” Ajay said.

The MLA said although he was not born here,he loved the city and added that his grief for the disaster victims was as much as that of any other citizen of the city.

“The city has given everything to me and I fondly remember my school days in Bhopal,” he said.

In 1983,Union Carbide had donated Rs 1.50 lakh to the Churhat Children’s Welfare Society,Ajay said,adding that three or four other companies had also donated money to his Society.

“At that time,I was not even an MLA and my position was that of an ordinary Congress worker,” he claimed.
