Fashion designer Vikram Phadnis, who presented his 'Bridal Collection' on the fourth day of Lakme Fashion Week Spring Summer 2010 here said, he will not go to the overseas market to showcase his collection.
"I am not going to the International market in the
near future. I would love to offer my collections to the Indian market rather than to overseas market," the ace designer who started his career as a choreographer said.
When asked about a mention at the New York Fashion Week last week on the inconsistency of Indian designers, Phadnis said, "I don't know anything about it and have not much concern to it. My main focus area is the Indian market and will remain the same."
The designer unleashed dazzling bridal creations with a traditional touch with discreet toches of innovations.
Traditional 'lehengas' replete with the heaviest of zardozi and crystal work, duppatas dazzled under the ramp lights and the cholis that varied from tiny bustiers to long raja coats to kurtas and sherwanis.
The ensemble of saris in net, chiffon and silk had ornate gold, crystal and silver borders.
Vikram has designed clothes for actors and cricketers including Amitabh Bachchan, Salman Khan, Akshaye Khanna, Priyanka Chopra, Aishwarya Rai, Sachin Tendulkar, Rahul Dravid, Jonty Rhodes, Wasim Akram and Glenn McGrath among others.
Men's wear was restricted to sherwani's, kurtas and knee length coats, which matched the women's wear in their brillance and glitter.
"Fashion improves everyday and so does my collection.
Though the cuts were modern but the sensibility was beautifully maintained as Indian," Phadnis said.
