Ace Indian shuttler Saina Nehwal believes her killer instinct helps her to win against any player as she never gets scared by the reputation of her opponent once she steps inside the court.

Saina, ranked sixth in the world, reached the semifinals of the Asian Badminton Championships here, beating Mew Choo Wang of Malaysia 21-5 21-13 in the last eight round today.

“I have a killer instinct and I am never scared of anybody since my childhood. I feel I’m the best and can beat anybody once I am in the court,” Saina told reporters after her match.

The Hyderbadi girl, who outclassed her Malaysian opponent with her repertoire of strokes, especially dribbles and net play, said there are some shots which come naturally to her.

“Net play and dribbles I don’t practice too much in trainning. These shots come naturally to me. I work more on my half smashes and drops in the training sessions because this are my weakness,” Saina said.

“Taking a break after playing a tournament is working out very well for me and today’s win proves that I have improved on my stokes as I got more time to work on those,” she said.

“I am able to catch the best of players now. If you consider the All England Championships, there also I beat the bests in the world. Its all about rhythm,if I am in rhythm things fall into place nicely for me,” she added.

Asked about her preparation for the Commonwealth Games to be held later this year,Saina said her priority will be to stay injury free.

“For me staying injury free will be a priority. You can get hurt even while training so that would be the most important thing,” she said.

She also praised Aditi Mutatkar, men’s doubles pair of Rupesh Kumar and Sanave Thomas and mixed doubles duo of Jwala Gutta and V Diju for their improved show in the tournament.

“I think in this tournament,Jwala and Diju and Aditi played really well. Rupesh and Sanave also did well but other quality players have to perform more consistently. We still have five six months to go for CWG and I hope things will fall in place soon,” Saina said.
