I am synonymous with horror: Vikram Bhatt

What made you turn to television?
My name is synonymous with horror and that’s the main reason I decided to produce it. Colors came up with the idea and approached me for it.I am producing the show and at the same time I am creatively involved with it too.

Why have you cast Anita Hassnandani as the lead in the show?
I have seen her work. She is very talented and her work has always been up to the mark. She is the perfect choice.

How do you think Indian television is dealing with horror as a genre?
Aahat is a milestone on Indian TV. It has been on air for years and has maintained an audience. I can’t comment beyond that though. But I’d like to add that my show is not a usual spooky fest. It is a story of humans connecting with ghosts — about relationship conflicts,but with a supernatural angle to it.

What are the other genres that you would like to experiment with?
There are a few things in the pipeline but I can’t reveal anything yet. I would like to experiment with genres other than reality. I am a complete ‘fiction’ guy.

How different is television from cinema?
The key difference,according to me,is that once you have an audience in the cinema halls,you have them captive. On the other hand,television audience has a remote control in their hands that they can use to switch channels the moment they lose interest in the show.

What are the other films you are working on?
India’s first 3D film Haunted,starring Mithun Chakrobarty’s son Mahakshay and debutante Tia Bajpai,releases on April 15. I am also working on an action film,titled Bhaag Johny. I am yet to finalise the film’s cast.
